United Nations reportedly wades in as quit notice to Igbos draws close, to visit Nigeria

– The three-month quit notice issued to Igbo people in the northern part of Nigeria has continued to rattle the country

– Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro said the United Nations is sending a delegation to Nigeria because of the quit notice

The United Nations will be visiting Nigeria any moment from now to address certain issues concerning the quit notice issued Igbo people resident in the northern part of the country.

This was announced by the president of the Ohanaeze Youth Council, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, as tension continues to rise over the threat against the Igbos in the north.

ZENITHBLOG.com learnt that Isiguzoro said the visit of the world body is in response to the petition written by the council to UN over the recent quit notice issued to Igbo.

He reportedly insisted that except a referendum was conducted in Nigeria, the country will continue to witness agitations in many quarters.

He also expressed hope that the visit would bring a permanent solution to the current problems in the country.

According to him, the current agitation would have been averted if not for the constant neglects meted out to some ethnic nationals in Nigeria.

He said these neglects ranged from appointments, employments and sharing formula among others adding that Ndigbo have always been victims of unrest in the north despite their enormous efforts to develop the region.

He urged Acting President Yemi Osibanjo to convene a youth conference to address what he called an ugly menace.

ZENITHBLOG.com had earlier reported that presidential hopeful and former governor of Kano, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, is currently being bashed for opposing the call for the arrest of the northern youths who issued a three-month notice to Igbo people living in the region.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state had ordered that the youths be arrested.

Up till now, this has not been done. On Thursday, June 22 in Abuja, Kwankwaso reportedly declared his opposition the call for the arrest of the youths.

Instead, he urged that the youths should be engaged in dialogue.
