As the Ramadan, the Islamic fasting, enters its second week, Muslim clerics have been warned to abstain from making statements that could be described as inciting.
The warning came from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Kano state command asking the clerics to mind how they preach and deliver lectures this period.
In a statement obtained by ZENITHBLOG.com, the state police command, through its spokesperson, Magaji Musa Majia, said the law enforcement agency was monitoring events and activities of Islamic scholars.

It also vowed to carry out necessary actions against any scholar found guilty of using provocative language.
According to the command, all Mosque Security Committees (MSC) in the state should liaise with the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in their areas for effective security at Ramadan lectures and other gatherings at this period.

“You are also advised to adopt security measures such as searching, barricading, and flow of useful and timely information to safeguard worshipers and worship places.
“All are, therefore, advised to desist from going to mosque/worship places with bags, parcels, boxes, containers or any other item that may cause suspicion among the people around,” the statement said.
ZENITHBLOG.com recently reported that as the 2017 diet of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates held throughout Nigeria, some young men decided to set up a website through which they attracted candidates and made them pay for supposedly worked answers.
“At the commencement of the examination, the council observed that some individuals were operating criminally inclined ‘rouge’ websites, under different names, soliciting for candidates sitting the examination, to pay money into their bank accounts, in exchange for the provision of worked solutions/answers to questions of subjects being taken on any particular day as the examination was in progress,” the Nigeria Police Force said while parading the suspects.
