The minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun, has disclosed that the federal government copied the economic template being used to foster the growth of Nigeria’s economy from Lagos state.

Adeosun made the disclosure on Tuesday, March 28, at the colloquium organised to celebrate the 65th birthday of Bola Tinubu in Lagos, The Cable reports.
The minister said she was not ashamed to admit that Lagos’ successful model was being replicated at the federal level.
“The economic template we copied from you is now being implemented for the economic recovery of the country and we are not ashamed to say it.
“The impact of that template is that many of the states are now copying it, especially in the area of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR),” she said.
The minister noted that Lagos was working because it had in place, an effective tax mechanism.
According to her, the federal government will continue to insist on the collection of its rightful tax from evasive rich citizens and corporate organisations.

The minister said Nigeria needed multiple streams of revenue, adding that the country can have steady economic growth if it consumes what it produces.
“We need to support the economy with the infrastructure needed to create jobs for our young people. We will change Nigeria by consuming what we make for Nigeria to survive,” she added.
Meanwhile, ZENITHBLOG.com has reported that the personal assistant to the president on social media, Lauretta Onochie said Nigeria is gradually pulling through the hard times.
According to her, President Muhammadu Buhari and his economic team must be doing to right things for the economy of the nation and the world is taking notice of it.
On her Facebook page, she wrote: “Only last week, World Economics Boldly stepped forward with the great news that the Nigerian economy would experience the highest growth in Africa in 2017.”
Onochie cited a report by Bloomberg which supported the publication by World Economics that Nigeria was one of the countries at the top of the 2017 economic growth ladder.
