The fight took place on March 8, 2017 in front of the Science lecture hall of the Federal College of Education Asaba, where they fought right in the presence of students of the institution, who had just finished their afternoon lectures around 2.30pm and had watched the spectacle unfold with obvious disappointment.
The altercation had occurred when both Nwalado and Adekunke had accosted the union leader Mr. Osagiede and accused him of several discrepancies and non-performance in high voices which quickly attracted attention.

The attempt by Osagiede to respond to the allegations further aggravated the anger of his accusers who immediately pounced on him and administered an avalanched of blows, kicks and slaps on the hapless union chairman to the shock and dismay of on-looking students, who were obviously afraid to intervene in a matter that involved their lecturers.
The assailants, satisfied that they had sufficiently dealt with Mr. Osagiede, then left him as he struggled in pain and agony to rise up and with the aid of some good Samaritans, managed to contact some other union members who came to his aid.
When contacted later, the COEASU Delta Chairman, Mr. Osagiede, who was still nursing his wounds and recovering from the harrowing ordeal, pleaded to be excused from commenting, but confirmed that the relevant security agencies have been alerted and a formal complaint has been lodged with the Directorate of State Security, Delta state command, who are said to be on top of the investigation.

It was also learnt that the management of the college is said to have equally set up a panel for further investigation on the incident, which the school authorities and students alike described as disappointing from persons regarded as role models who were now displaying negative examples with their behaviour.
Latest findings also confirm that both Nwalado Emmanuel and Adekunle Timothy have been placed on indefinite suspension on the orders of the Provost of the College, Dr. Ignatius Ezoem pending the final outcome of the panel.
The decision which has been widely applauded by chief lecturers and the entire college community, especially since the two had seemingly been regarded as the provost’s boys and had allegedly displayed several acts of impunity in the past without being challenged or reprimanded.
