The Nigerian Senate is set to pass the 2017 budget in a matter of weeks, so says Senator Shaaba Lafiagi, chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence.
Senator Lafiagi says the budget presented to the National Assembly last year would soon be approved by the legislature
Daily Trust reports that the National Assembly is to pass the 2017 appropriation bill in the next two weeks.
The senator revealed this in Lafiagi, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara state at the weekend.

According to the report, Lafiagi said all ministries, parastatals and agencies had defended their proposals and the committees were currently deliberating on it and would provide feedback to the Committee on Appropriation once everything was tidied up.

This news of budget passage comes just as Nigeria’s foreign reserve rose to $30bn and Naira firms up against the American dollar.
ZENITHBLOG.com recalls that data released by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the country’s foreign reserve as of March 8, 2017 has risen to it’s highest since October 2015.
The external reserve rose by $4.2 billion since the beginning of the 2017, and by $6.2 billion since October 19th, 2016 when it commenced its upward trend.
