Nigeria would have collapsed without Buhari — Bello

Kogi state governor Yahaya Bello has said that Nigerians should be grateful for the coming of President Muhammadu Buhari into power.

According to him, Nigeria would have become a failed state had President Buhari not emerged victorious at the 2015 elections.

Governor Bello believes that President Buhari’s timely victory in 2015 saved Nigeria from brink of collapse.

Daily Trust reports that the governor, who disclosed this in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital while briefing newsmen on the state of the nation, said there was no way the country could have survived Boko Haram’s menace and endemic corruption that held sway then.

“Nigeria would have become a failed state if Buhari didn’t emerge as the President. Buhari has brought immense stability and credibility to the corridors of governance.

“We can’t also forget too soon, how corruption was almost bringing our nation to its knees and our institutions were drained, abused and destroyed,” he said.

ZENITHBLOG.com gathered that the governor said the emergence of President Buhari “has not only restricted the operations of Boko Haram, but had seen government boldly winning the war against insurgency in Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, Pastor Tunde Bakare, a top supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari, has admitted that he played a role in the memo written by Kaduna state governor Nasir El-Rufai to the Nigerian leader.

The Punch reports that Bakare admitted to his congregation at the Latter Rain Assembly in Ogba area of Lagos during a sermon on Sunday, March 26 that he and El-Rufai dropped off the memo at the presidential villa together.
