Just In: Police rescues man trying to jump into Lagos Lagoon (Photos

After rescuing two people and retrieving two dead bodies from the Lagos Lagoon, the Nigerian police has rescued yet another man attempting to end his own life in the lagoon.

The Nigerian police on Sunday, March 27, reportedly rescued an elderly man who was about to plunge into the Lagos lagoon to put an end to his own life.

According to a media personnel at the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Malik Nasir, the unnamed man was rescued by the police before he could throw himself into the river.

This is the third person to be rescued from jumping into the lagoon in the last one week, two other dead bodies, including that of Doctor Allwell Orji, who jumped in on Sunday, March 19, have been recovered.

Zenithblog.com recalled that less than three days ago, on March 24, another woman, a textile merchant, Taiwo Titilayo Momoh attempted to end her own life by jumping into the lagoon from Lagos Third Mainland Bridge.

Momoh’s rescue was the second the police will make in that day after saving a woman few hours before Momoh’s attempt.

So far, the two dead bodies have been recovered from the water and three people rescued before they could take the plunge in attempt to end their own lives.

The video below shows a vulcaniser whose death rumor allegedly led to a communal clash that cost the lives of several people in Ile-Ife.
