The Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Hameed Ali has said he was not appointed to wear uniforms.
Responding to an invitation to appear before the Senate on Wednesday, March 9, in his uniform, Ali told TVC that he was appointed to do a job, adding that he wondered if the uniform would do the job or the individual appointed.

He said: “I’m yet to receive invitation, if proper procedures for official invitations are followed, I will appear before Senate.”
”Am i doing my job or not? , i think that is what should bother the national assembly.”
Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West senatorial district had moved a motion during plenary on Thursday,
Melaye said reports on the newspapers of Thursday that the Customs would continue with policy as against the Senate’s order was a coup on democracy and would not be accepted.
He prayed that Hameed Ali should be re-summoned and made to appear live in plenary and not before senate committee on customs. He must also be in Customs uniform.
