Gbenga Daniel paid a visit to Obasanjo at his residence to rejoice with him on the occasion of his 80th birthday bringing to an end the political differences between the two men that has lasted for over 10 years.
Obasanjo reportedly cut ties with Daniel for being rude to him but during the visit that lasted for about three hours, both men ended their frosty relationship with hearty conversation and rib-cracking jokes.
Obasanjo was quoted as telling Daniel: “If I still hold any grudges against you, I won’t have allow you to come into my house. But all those are past things, and am convinced that you have learnt your lessons.”

Daniel was also reported to have said that he appreciated Obasanjo’s having a change of heart and noted he didn’t meant any harm against the former president and that he has always held him in very high esteem as the father of the nation and father of all.
Meanwhile, Obasanjo has prayed for Nigeria’s fortune not to ‘sink’ like his former political party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Obasanjo made this statement on Friday, March 3 at an event organized by the Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilization of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOP), Abeokuta to mark the ex-president’s 80th birthday.
