How Abuja Airport closure prevented Justice Okon Abang from hearing Metuh, Badeh's case

The cases between the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the former chief of defence staff, Alex Badeh and the immediate past spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been stalled on Monday, March 20.

Counsels to both all parties in the matter and their clients were in court ready for the matter when a court clerk informed them that Justice Okon Abang will not be sitting.

ZENITHBLOG.com gatehred that the judge who was returning from Lagos was held in traffic between Kaduna and Abuja.

One of the lawyers who spoke to ZENITHBLOG.com said:“We came ready for the matter but the judge told us he was caught up in traffic between Kaduna and Lagos.

“He said he is on his way from Lagos to Abuja, so the matter has been adjourned to Tuesday, March 21, for continuation of trial.”

Runway repairs at the Abuja Airport has made the government divert traffic to the Kaduna Airport

Metuh and Badeh are facing charges of money laundering and diversion of public funds.

The EFCC in the different charges alleged that the duo diverted public funds for to prosecute the 2015 general elections.

The monies were said to have been received from the office of the then national security adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd).

The Abuja airport would be closed for six weeks between March 8 and April 19, and is undergoing runway repairs by construction giant, Julius Berger.
