Some gunmen have reportedly killed five and injured seven Fulani herdsmen and rustled over 500 cattle in Udege area, Nasarawa LGA of Nasarawa state.

Reports have it that the gunmen had allegedly seized some mountains in the area where they took and hid kidnapped victims.
The state chairman of Miyyati Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) Muhammed Husseini made this known to newsmen yesterday.

He said: “In the last one week the criminals had killed five Fulani herders in separate attacks, injured seven others and rustled over 500 cattle. Only last Monday they attacked Gidan Kwano town, Mararaba Udege where they injured three herders and rustled 252 cattle.”
Going further, he said the MACBAN officials and the state commissioner of police had visited the areas to calm down the victims of the attacks.
Meanwhile, Bello Ahmadu, one of the victims told
“They rustled all 174 cattle of our family. When some of the family members tried to resist them, they shot them.”

State Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Sadiq Bello, confirmed the incident.
He however said the command had deployed a crack team to the affected areas to tackle the challenges.
