The 2016 Human Development Report (HDR) focuses on how human development can be ensured for every one. The report is prepared by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The report, which is the Human Development Index (HDI) explores who has been left behind in human development progress—and why.
According to the report, human development progress over the past 25 years has been impressive on many fronts. But the gains have not been universal.

The HDI shows that Nigeria has gained positively in the area of life expectancy
Nigeria’s HDI value for 2015 is 0.527- which put the country in the low human development category, positioning it at 152 out of 188 countries and territories.
Between 2005 and 2015, Nigeria’s HDI value increased from 0.466 to 0.527, an increase of 13.1 percent.
Also worthy of note is that: Between 1990 and 2015, Nigeria’s life expectancy at birth increased by 7.0 years, mean years of schooling increased by 0.8 years and expected years of schooling increased by 3.3 years. Nigeria’s

Meanwhile, Cameroon has deported more than 2,600 Nigerians who fled into northern part of the country to escape Boko Haram jihadists since the start of the year, according to the UN.
According to the Daily Mail, the spokesman for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Babar Baloch, told reporters in Geneva that some 85,000 Nigerians have sought refuge in Cameroon but authorities in the country sent many back, citing security reasons.
“So far this year, Cameroon has forcefully returned over 2,600 refugees to Nigerian border villages against their will,” the UNHCR spokesperson said.
