Ex – militants attack Arewa youths over call to sack non-performing ministers, support for Boroh

A former militant group in the Niger Delta, Egbesu United, has rained knocks on a northern group, the Arewa Youth Assembly, over its call on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack some serving ministers in his cabinet whom he perceived were not living up to expectation.

In an e-mail to ZENITHBLOG.com, spokesperson of the group, Ben Perebowei, described the Northern group as a faceless and unserious group that thrives on empty sycophancy and only interested in noise making.

The former militants also said the northern group goofed in its statement about Gen. Paul Boroh as it concerns his services to the people of the Niger Delta, noting that only Niger Deltans could tell who is serving the region’s interest and do not need an unknown group like the Arewa group to speak for the region.

According to Perebowei, the Northern youths failed in dabbling into issues that do not concern its people.

The Ijaw group noted that the decision to hire or fire ministers is the prerogative of the President who the group said has enough wisdom and knowledge to take decisions that will benefit Nigerians and do not need political jobbers like the Arewa group to stampede him into action.

Gen. Boroh, according to Egbesu United, has failed the people of the Niger Delta, particularly the youths who are the components of the amnesty programme, noting that never in the history of the programme have the ex-militants been owed as it is now.

As an interventionist agency, the group said the amnesty office owes a backlog of arrears running into months without concern for the ex-militants whose life depended on the stipends from the federal government.

Following his alleged non-performance, the group called on the President Buhari to sack him to avoid more crisis in the region.

It accused him of not having the requisite knowledge and ability to manage the amnesty programme and bring result to the people of the region.

It noted with nostalgia that Boroh has not achieved one tenth of the success of Kingsley Kuku, in that same office, adding that the group was not unaware of the ongoing corruption under Boroh’s management saying at the right time it will blow the whistle for the knowledge of the general public.

Former militants say Paul Boroh must be relieved of his duties having failed to perform

To Niger Deltans particularly the ex-militants, Boroh is a set back and square peg in a round hole. He has refused to work according to the demands of his office. For instance, how can a man on whose shoulders rest the welfare of ex-militants not take calls?

“Why would a man heading such office be so tardy to the extent that his is owing a backlog of arrears due to ex-militants and a group of never-do – wells called Arewa group is praising such a failure in a matter that is outside its purview whereas Boko Haram in the north remains a major issue?

“We are warning that unknown group to stay away from Niger Delta affairs because we know who to praise when and how,” the ex- militant group stated.
