The search for the body of the medical doctor, Allwell Orji, who killed himself on Sunday, March 19, by jumping into the Lagos lagoon ended in futility on Monday, March 20.

The search for Dr. Orji’s body started on Sunday when he jumped into the lagoon and continued on Monday.

Rescue workers, comprising policemen attached to the Marine department of the Force, officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and local divers, combed the lagoon at the Third Mainland Bridge but did not find Orji’s body, Vanguard reports.

The search for his body started on Sunday when he jumped into the lagoon and continued on Monday. It was conducted down to the Oworoshoki end of the lagoon but the doctor’s body was still not found.

Orji was said to be returning from church, when he allegedly stopped the car, a Nissan X-trail with registration number LND 476 EE and then dived into the lagoon.

The mother of the medical doctor who works with Mount Sinai Hospital, Papa Ajao, Mushin, has reportedly refused to accept that her son is dead.

His family has asked Nigerians to respect their grief, saying they do not want to make comments on this issue.
