The Nigerian Senate has declared that Ibrahim Magu has lost the power to remain acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Magu was rejected by the senate after his screening on Wednesday, March 15 which marked the second time he was rejected.

Daily Post reports that following this second rejection, Magu has ceased to be the acting chairman of the anti-graft agency.
Magu cannot be acting EFCC chairman again – Senate
Abdulahi Sabi who is the spokesperson of the Senate spoke of the plenary session where he said Magu would have to leave the EFCC indicating that President Muhammadu Buhari would have to submit another person’s name.
“The rejection of Magu by the Senate signifies that he cannot continue in acting capacity.
“We did not confirm him. He failed the integrity test.”
Sabi said some senators who were backing Magu’s confirmation backed out because of his poor performance during plenary.
The Senate’s decision to reject Magu followed a report from the Department of State Services (DSS) which again disqualified the EFCC chief based on his failure of an integrity test by the secret police.
The acting EFCC boss looked to be doing well during his screening for the position at the Nigerian Senate on Wednesday, March 15 when Senator Dino Melaye revealed that the upper house of legislature had received a letter saying Magu was not qualified for the job because he failed integrity test. by the secret police.
