The Nigeria police in a statement signed by the zonal public relations officer Dolapo Badmos the visit was aimed at preventing reprisal attack in line with the mandate of the police to maintain law and order and prevent crime.
The AIG said the visit was aimed at avoiding reprisal attacks from the Ile-Ife crisis
Badmos said the AIG was mandated by the inspector general of police Ibrahim Idris to pay the visit and urge everyone resident in the area to shun violence and embrace peaceful co-existence at all times.
He also said the visit was a mandate given to the Zone by the inspector general of police
During the visit, ZENITHBLOG.com gathered that, the Seriki Hausawa of Shagamu, Alhaji Innua Garba appreciated the AIG’s visit.
Garba said it is first of its kind.
He also said the leadership of the force has demonstrated by the AIG’s visit that the concept of community policing the force is advocating is real and genuine.

“He promised that they will continue to ensure that peace reigns in their domain as he reiterates that anyone or group of people that wants to foment trouble will be handed over to the Police. He assures the AIG of peaceful co-existence with host community,” Badmos said.
The statement also said that the Remo Traditional Council and the Igbo Community in Sagamu led by Chief Gilbert Chukwuma made solidarity attendance at the function.
He said the visit was part of the community policing adopted by the Nigeria police
The traditional leaders pledged to support the police in the collective fight against crime and criminality.
The AIG also received an award during the visit
At the end of the meeting, the Hausas, Igbos and Yorubas collectively conferred on AIG Aderanti award of Most Outstanding Crime Fighter.
