Organogram of University of Ibadan, 14 official positions in the institution

The premier University of Ibadan (UI) is the leading University in Nigeria according to recent National University Commission (NCC) ranking.

Below is a brief organogram of UI:

UI has a centralized administrative structure well arranged with powers delegated to others (other than the VC) in a downline arrangement.

The central is headed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin) who acts as the chairman of a board which consists of a Director, Deputy director, programme officer who is certified as a guidance councilor and shall act as a secretary to the board.

There are also other people of proven track records of honesty and integrity such a male hall warden and a female counterpart, four religious leaders from the University community notably the Baptist church, Catholic, Chapel of Resurrection and the Chief Imam of the central mosque.

The Dean of students affairs is also a member as well as the DRs and they could send representatives too.

Representatives of the bursar, Muslim Students association, Association of UI Campus Students Fellowship (AUCSF), National Catholic students and other four people with good social behavior to represent other various interest groups under the discretion of the VC.

The board also has the discretionary power to add a maximum of three other members who it feels can gear the board to achieving its aim and objectives. The members added can only be a legal advisor and a public relation officer and any other.

In summary however:

The Organogram of the University of Ibadan is made to comprise:

– The DVC – Administration as the chairman

– The Director

– The Deputy Director

– The Dean of students affairs

– 2 hall wardens ( a male and a female)

– 4 religious leaders

– The DRs (establishments and students)

– 3 religious group representatives (MSN, AUCSF, NCF)

– A programme officer

– 4 representatives of interest groups

– 3 co-opted members (Legal advisor, PRO and the CSO)

The board is charged with the following:

1. Formulating policies towards achieving its aims and objectives

2. Receives and considers reports from the Director

3. Directs and guides the Centre

4. Communicate frequently with the anti-cultism committee

5. Sets up other committees when needed

6. Considers and propose budget to the VC for approval

7. Gives annual report to the University Senate

8. Makes decisions to fulfil the Centre & objectives

9. Serves as link between the Centre and the VC on policies

The Director assisted by his deputy;

1. Has direct access to the VC for the day to day running of the Centre

2. Bears responsibilities for the daily running of the Centre

3. Ensures the efficiency and coordinates the activities of others to achieve good results

4. The deputy also carry out other functions delegated by the director which includes close

supervision of others.
