Basic surgical skills in the National Trauma Centre Abuja

The National Trauma Centre is housed at the National Hospital, Abuja and considered one of the best in the country Nigeria. Since it’s launch the centre has grown from a start point of having just five beds to many more as well as providing treatments for trauma patients of all kinds.

The trauma centre was launched due to the inherent lack of a care centre that tends to the needs of emergency patients whose needs exceed what the Intensive Care Unit can provide. In cases of trauma, patients are given the utmost care and attention.

The centre is filled with world-class equipment and facilities as well as well-trained personnel capable pf handling the most extreme cases of trauma.

Patients from all class of the society have turned to the centre for life-saving needs in the past and over the years, has been established as a reliable facility to aid treatment of trauma cases across Nigeria.

National Trauma Centre also provides the opportunity for trainees to learn basic surgical skills. The centre was commissioned in 2014 and has been accredited in Post Fellowship Training in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care by the West African College of Surgeons.

The National Trauma Centre, National Hospital Abuja welcomes applications from surgeons in any of the surgical specialities. Successful completion of the training will lead to the award of the Diploma in Trauma Care of the West African College of Surgeons.
