27-year-old Alyssa Lusk from Mississippi in the US gained 19kg of “happy weight” within a year of meeting the love of her life.

Her happiness saw her weight shooting up to 88kg, which alarmed her. Just before her wedding, she decided to shed the extra weight after feeling remorseful about it.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Alyssa said: “I remember walking around the mall and wanting to cry because I was so unhappy with myself.”

She began watching what she ate and cut back on fast foods. She also started going to the gym and exercising regularly.

Her efforts intensified after her wedding. She said her healthiest habit was drinking up to three liters of water every day, which is double the recommended amount.

Within a short time, her efforts began to pay off. She now cuts a fit and slim figure and weighs 63kg, one year after her wedding.

While she is proud of her achievement, she said it didn’t come easily, as she had to make big sacrifices.

The biggest sacrifice was cutting back on social engagements with her friends for fear of being tempted by unhealthy food.
