OPINION: Why ‘cabals’ in Buhari’s cabinet should allow Osinbajo to work

Editor’s note: Since President Muhammadu Buhari left for United Kingdom for medicals, his vice, Yemi Osinbajo has taken the mantle of leadership as acting president so as to ensure there is no vacuum in governance. But it is believed that some cabals’ within Buhari’s kitchen cabinet are allegedly frustrating Osinbajo’s efforts to consolidate on Buhari’s legacy.

In a message sent to ZENITHBLOG.com, a Facebook user, Omololu Omotosho, explains why Osinbajo should be allowed to work so as to help bring to the Nigeria back days of glory.

Nigeria has never seen or had a high ranking politician and government official like Professor Yemi Osinbajo. Certainly not in my generation (I am 33-year-old). I think he is a man of destiny and if the cabal allow him to work, he can help bring to the Nigeria back days of glory:

The days where the Nigerian currency had more value, the days where the Nigerian passport was respected, and the days where university graduates from overseas returned home to serve Nigeria.

When we saw Vice President Yemi Osinbajo interact with traders at Garki market in Abuja, it was more than symbolism; It demonstrated that a Nigerian leader could associate with the masses and demonstrate empathy regarding their situation.

Those men and women on that day at Garki market went back home not with millions of dollars, but with more hope, dignity, and belief in themselves and the Nigerian state.
