Sahara reporters had on Monday, January 30, reported that four principal officers of the National Assembly; including the Senate president, Bukola Saraki; his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu; House of Representatives speaker, Yakubu Dogara; and his deputy, Lasun Yusuf collected the sum of N630m for official accommodation.

But the Senate president in a statement by his special adviser on media and publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu on Tuesday, January 31, said though the four presiding officers were legally entitled to official accommodation, they have been living in their personal residences and do not get paid by any Federal Government agency, Daily Post reports.

“There is no truth to the claim by this group. In fact, during the preparation of the budget, the Senate President and Speaker directed the FCDA to remove the 10 billion Naira voted for the construction of their official residence to save cost,” Saraki said.
