Nigeria’s Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has said the executive would continue to engage the legislature in line with democratic principles.

Osinbajo stated this to mark 2nd anniversary celebration of the 8th National Assembly on Friday, June 9, in Abuja.

ZENITHBLOG.com gathered that the acting president represented by Sen. Ita Enang, Senior Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, said that the executive would not confront the legislative arm in their dealings.

The Nigeria Senate on Friday, June 9, marked its two years since the inauguration of the Red Chamber.

He said: “We appreciate the powers of the legislature; we will in our relationship with you, continually relate on the basis of honour for each other. We will only engage, we will not confront you.

“We thank you, we congratulate you for the two years of your existence, and we

wish you the best in the remaining years of your service.”

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, in his address described the Senate and the House of Representatives as two inseparable twins.

Saraki, who was represented by Dino Melaye said that both chambers would continue to work together for the progress of the country.

Earlier, ZENITHBLOG.com reported that the Red Chamber led by the Senate President Bukola Saraki said it passed 95 bills in its two years of existence.

It also said that 72 petitions which was sent to the Senate were treated within the two years.

The bills passed by this present Senate is 67 and 72 more than the seventh and sixth Senate.

The 8th National Assembly on Friday, June 9, marked its two years anniversary since its’s inauguration in 2015.
