– Former President Goodluck Jonathan has sent a strong message to General Abdulsalami Abubakar
– In the message, Jonathan said Abubakar, contributed to the possibility of Nigerian democracy
– The former president thanked him on his birthday which he said came two weeks after Democracy Day
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has praised General Abdulsalami Abubakar for making democracy possible in Nigeria.
Jonathan said Nigerian current democratic experience would not have been possible if General Abdulsalami Abubakar had not surrendered himself to be used by God as a pencil in the Hand of the Creator.
ZENITHBLOG.com gathered that Abdulsalami Abubakar was born on 13 June 1942 to his father Abubakar Jibrin and his mother Fatikande Mohammed, in Minna, Niger state, Nigeria.

From 1993-1998, Late General Sani Abacha appointed Abubakar as the chief of defence staff, defence headquarters.
Upon Abacha’s death on 8 June 1998, Abdulsalami Abubakar took power as the military president of Nigeria and commander in chief of the armed forces on 9 June 1998.
In May 1999 General Abubakar, handed over power to the newly elected civilian president, Olusegun Obasanjo and retired from the army.
However, in his birthday message to Abubakar, Jonathan said: “All Nigerians owe a debt of gratitude to this democratic icon and as you celebrate your 75th birthday today, my family and I join millions of Nigerians and lovers of Nigeria to wish you a happy birthday.”

The former president added: ”It is fitting that your birthday comes two weeks after Democracy Day. Just as you planted the democracy tree that is now giving us shade,
‘’May God in His infinite mercy continue to shade you with good health, long life and pleasant experiences. Happy Birthday General of the people.”
Meanwhile ZENITHBLOG.com earlier reported that Rotimi Amaechi, the minister of transportation on Tuesday, June 14, said President Buhari’s government inherited hardship from former President Goodluck Jonathan’s government.
Amaechi said that the difficulty made Buhari’s administration to encounter difficult to pay salaries when it took over government.
