BREAKING: Federal High Court upholds Tambuwal's election as Sokoto governor

A report by Premium Times indicates that a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has upheld the election of Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state.

According to the report, the court, presided by Justice Gabriel Kolawole, said the application challenging the correctness of the December 4, 2014 primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto state lacked merit and is therefore dismissed.

Tambuwal who was a contestant at the election emerged the flag-bearer of the APC and went ahead to win the main election.

class="align-left">Another member of the party, Umar Dahiru, had approached the court, requesting that it sets aside the APC primaries following allegation of non-compliance of the said primaries to laid down rules by the party to select its flagbearer.

Meanwhile, Governor Tambuwal has urged Nigerians to avoid inflammatory remarks that can bring disunity among the people.

He made the plea on Friday, June 9 evening when he invited members of the resident communities in the state to break fasting with him.

He spoke against the backdrop of the ultimatum given to the Igbos to leave the northern part of the country by some youths in Kaduna.
