The National Chairman of New Generation Party of Nigeria (NGP), Dr. Yakubu Shendam has described the meeting held by President Muhammadu Buhari and leaders of the PDP and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a secret and desperate attempt to derail democracy.

Shendam stated this on Sunday, August 27 in a statement sent to journalists.

Shendam, who is the newly elected National Publicity Secretary of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), lamented why President Buhari ignored 40 other political parties and met with only the leaders of the PDP.

His words: “The secret meeting between the two political parties is a clear indication that APC and PDP are birds of the same feather.

“We are consulting to seek redress in court over the unholy alliance of the APC and PDP to share states ahead of the 2019 elections.

“Clearly, the disposition of the national chairmen of the PDP, Ahmed Makarfi and Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, at the Presidential Villa says it all that the internal fighting between Sheriff and Makarfi’s faction was a struggle for who to superintend over the sharing formula.

“We find the decision to call a secret meeting between the APC and the PDP undemocratic, unreasonable and suspicious. We, therefore condemn it in its entirety.”

Meanwhile, the presidency has alerted the public on an orchestrated campaign to smear the good name of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff Abba Kyari by a section of the press.

Malam Garba Shehu, the president’s senior special assistant on media and publicity stated this in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, August 28.

According to him, some allegations being levelled against the president’s CoS are indirectly aimed at rubbishing the successes being recorded by the Buhari administration.
