– Stock cubes of Knorr or Maggi (two);

– Onion (one medium sized);

– Salt;

– Pepper;

– Crayfish (100g);

– Vegetables (Bitter leaf/pumpkin leaf/ spinach);

– Red Palm Oil (three spoons);

– Ogbono seeds (150g);

– Meat and Fish (Stock fish, dry fish, shaki or/and beef).

– You will need a grinder to grind the Ogbono seeds;

– If you use a frozen spinach as a vegetable, then it`s best to cut it several times until it’s completely defrosted. When it`s defrosted – drain out the excess water;

– You need to cook the fish and meat beforehand. Start with shaki and then add other types of meat and fish. Do not forget to use stock cubes while cooking the meat;

– Grind pepper and crayfish;

– Boil a pot with water and set aside.

– Pour your palm oil in a pot. You need to heat the oil but do not allow it to get too hot!

– When it`s melted – turn off your stove;

– Add the ground Ogbono to the pot with oil!

– Dissolve the Ogbono within the oil;

– Wait until the Ogbono and Oil become one!

– Now you can add the leftover water that you used to cook your assorted meat. Set the heat of your stove on a low level and start cooking the Ogbono mix. Do not forget to stir it constantly;

– You should keep stirring until the Ogbono completely absorbs the meat stock;

– Now you need to add some water bit-by-bit to make the Ogbono mix less thick;

– Stir the Ogbono every 3 minutes for twenty minutes in total;

– After twenty minutes, it’s time to add the rest of your ingredients.

– Add your other ingredients yo your Ogbono, like crayfish, salt, pepper, fish, and meat. If the Ogbono becomes thicker, then you just need to add some water;

– Now you need to add the vegetables to your soup and cook everything on a low heat for five more minutes;

– If you prefer to eat the Ogbono soup without vegetables, then just don’t add them to this recipe!

– Turn off the stove and leave the soup to cool five minutes!

– Your soup is ready to be served!
