Niger Delta group unveils identity of Good Samaritan who rescued 12-month-old baby from Lagos ghastly motor accident

– An unemployed pilot, one Mr. Promise Ominisan had rescued a 12-month-old accident victim at Egbeda area of Lagos state

– It was learnt that Ominisan boarded a motorbike and took the baby to a nearby clinic, paid the bill for the treatment of the baby

– An advocacy group in the Niger Delta is therefore, calling for recognition of Ominisan and possible employment by the Nigerian government

A Niger Delta civil advocacy group known as Nigerian Youths for Good Governance and Unity (NYGGU) has unveiled the identity of a strange middle aged man who single-handedly rescued a 12-month-old baby last week from a ghastly motor accident in Egbeda area of Lagos.

According to the group, the strange man now identified as Promise Ominisan, 30, and an indigene of Arugbo in Ondo state, is an unemployed pilot with qualifications from the Afrikan Union Aviation Academy in South Africa and Cloud 9 helicopter school in United States.

ZENITHBLOG.com gathered that the civil advocacy group, in a letter of recommendation written to the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbanjo and the Ondo state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, over the commendable role played by the unemployed pilot, Mr. Promise Ominisan in the rescue of the baby, commended the unemployed pilot.

According to the group, Mr. Promise Ominisan rescued the 12-month-old baby in a motor accident which occurred on Thursday July 20th along Egbeda road in Lagos which recorded over 13 casualties including the mother of the baby.

The group, in the letter dated 25th of July, 2017 and signed by the secretary-general, Comrade Victor Ben Eridei, said though the good deed of the unemployed pilot saved the life of the fragile child who was separated from her mother during the accident, the good Samaritan in Promise Ominisan should be used to encourage Nigerians to be united and be their brothers’ keeper.

The rescue operation showed the bandaged 12-month-old baby holding tight to Mr. Ominisan who saved his life.

According to Eridie: “Some of our members at the scene of the accident were surprised at the bold rescue operation of the young man. We saw him taken the baby covered in blood and jumped unto a commercial motor cyclist and moved him to the nearest hospital. The child was rescued and the hospital bill paid by the unemployed man with the last money on him.

We write you and the Ondo state government to single out individuals like Promise Ominisan for excellence and encourage young Nigerians to shun divisive tendencies and see everyone in spite of tribal differences as brother and sister.

“In our little way, we have listed him among the beneficiaries of our forth coming true Nigerian award. And to also ask that if such individuals are engaged and employed, they have the disposition to do more for the society.”

Contacted on the development, Mr. Promise Ominisan, who hails from Arugbo community in Ondo state, a state in the Niger delta, told our correspondent that the rescue operation was spontaneous.

“I had earlier gone in search of job and later branched my church. But on getting to Egbeda, I met an ugly scene with a 14-seater bus in a ghastly motor accident. While many sympathizers were looking, I saw the baby and moved in to rescue him. I thank God he survived.

“When the hospital management were insisting on payment, I urged them to go ahead and I foot the bill‎.”

Parents of the injured baby boy, commended the good spirit of the unemployed and described him as godsent.
