Mohammed Gololo, the House of Representatives member representing Gamawa federal constituency, Bauchi, was reportedly attacked by an angry mob.

ZENITHBLOG.com gathered that Gololo was attacked in his hometown by youths who pelted him stones at an event he organised to distribute empowerment materials to his supporters.

According to a report by Premium Times, the angry mob attacked his vehicle and destroyed the windscreen and when Gololo was whisked to safety by security officials, the mob proceeded to his family home to destroy the house.

However, a family of Gololo denied that the house was turned upside down by angry mob, he insisted that the destruction was done by thieves who attacked the house.

Fortunately for Gololo and his family members, no one was at the house when the alleged mob came to attack it and almost pull it down.

According to an eye witness, who identified himself as Salisu, political opponents instigated the attack against Galolo after several organisation had earlier written petition against him.

According to the petition, Galoll abandoned his constituency and did not visit the area for about six months.

A member of Gamawa Youth Mobilization Forum explained what prompted the action against the lawmaker.

He said: “All attempts have been made to invite Honourable Mohammed to come to his constituency for a meeting, so that he will understand why people are not happy with him. Unfortunately, he refused, saying the youth should send a delegation to meet him in Kano, Kaduna or Abuja.”

Mai Zanen Gololo, the presenter of a popular Hausa radio programme, “Zabi Son Ka” explained the extent of the mob attack.

He said: “Trouble started when it was time to start distribution of sewing machines. Gololo and the security around advised that the items be distributed at the police station. The items were later taken away to Gamawa.”

“When the security took the remaining items to Gololo’s house, these youth forced their way into the house, carted away a number of sewing machines and all properties in the house. The situation was so mad that someone tried to remove the main gate of the house, but was chased away by the security.’’

When asked if the lawmaker truly abandoned his constituency, he said it was not true.

He said: “You know, if you don’t distribute money, people will say you are not attending to their needs. Though I may not know when he comes, because when he comes I don’t pay him a visit. But he did some culverts in this town and some other minor projects. He assists also.”

The presenter also said the house vandalised is not the old house as some people were saying.

“It is his new house where he resides whenever he was in town. I went there and saw how it was vandalized like in a war situation.”

ZENITHBLOG.com recalled that a political rally organised by the Katsina State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) turned violent when protesters descended on the dignitaries pelting them with stones.

It was reported that Abu Ibrahim, the senator representing Katsina South, and Amiru Tukur, the member representing Bakori/Danja Federal constituency in the House of Representatives narrowly escaped the mob action as stones and shoes were used to attack them.

Some vehicles in the entourage of the governor were smashed by irate youths while security personnel had to use tear-gas to disperse the crowds and free the dignitaries forcing the event to come to an abrupt end.
