A report by Daily Trust indicates that the old military barrack in Suleja, Niger state, was demolished on Monday, September 4.
According to the report, bulldozers were mobilized, with operatives of various security agencies as guards, to demolish the facility.
The security personnel who raided the area as early as 7am, were said to have ordered the residents to vacate the facility, giving them no time to take out their belongings.
The incident however resulted to a clash between the residents and the security agencies as the demolition team faced resistance.

According to ngyab.com, the residents blocked all the roads leading to the barrack with bonfires.
The residents who admitted to have been given a stipulated date to vacate the facility, said they didn’t yield to it because the matter was in a court of law.

They lamented that they did not know where to go and how to start a new life due to lack of money to even evacuate some of what they were left with.
Responding, the information officer of the Suleja local government area, Malam Jibrin Bisallah said quite notice has since been given to the residents but the demolition exercise could not be carried out on several occasions due to the resistance by the occupants until this time.
Meanwhile, there was a clash between two factions of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) at the Unity Fountain in Abuja on Tuesday, September 5.
A first group had assembled at the Unity Fountain to protest the ongoing strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, when another group appeared to counter the protest.
