The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Tin-Can Island Command, has intercepted a 20 foot container bearing 49 boxes containing 1,100 pump action rifles, Vanguard reports.
The weapons were discovered when operatives of the Command busted a syndicate which specializes in smuggling weapons into the country.

Colonel Hameed Ali (Rtd.), the comptroller general of the Customs Service, in a chat with newsmen, stated that a customs officer who had disregarded due process and cut the seal of the container, had been arrested.
A clerk has also been arrested in connection with the discovery.

ZENITHBLOG.com previously reported that the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) intercepted and seized 661 brand new pump-action rifles stored in 49 boxes in truck in Lagos state.
Although the command did not disclose where the weapons were from or where they were headed, reports indicated that the scary haul came in from China.
