“These same individuals spreading falsehood about Andy Uba compromising highly respected members of the party Senator Lawal Shuaibu and Mr Hassan whose reputations have been impeccable, can only come from deranged and desperate standpoint.

“These are people who, after having manipulated the election are desperate to hang on to a supposed victory that they got fraudulently.

It’s high time that people’s reputations are not sacrificed just for the simple reason that people are desperate and have decided that the end justifies the means,” the statement said.

Senator Uba said he has decided to explore the mechanism set up by the party to air his grievances as regards the primary election, adding that there are unresolved issues, hence his petition to the appeal committee.

“It is the norm in every democratic society that anyone who feels cheated in an electoral contest should seek redress in a tribunal or court of competent jurisdiction,” the statement added.

A member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Tony Nwoye, emerged winner of the primary election on Sunday, August 27.

Nwoye scored 2,146 votes to defeat Senator Uba who got 931 votes. APC’s national auditor, George Moghalu polled 525 votes, while Bart Nwibe scored 414 and John-Bosco Onunkwo scored 85 votes.

Other results include Madu Nonso – 21 votes, Nwike Patrick – 20, Obidigbo Chike – 22, and Okonkwo Donatus – 10.

5,430 delegates from the 21 local government areas of the state participated in the exercise.
