ZENITHBLOG.com gathered that a journalist was rough-handled for daring to drink water inside a mosque during the ongoing Ramadan fasting.
According to reports from the Express Tribune, a Pakistani journalist was beaten up by some Muslim clerics for drinking water inside a mosque during Ramadan.
The journalist, Rashid Azeem, who was part of a local news channel, Din News, had been covering an event in Islamabad, when he went to a nearby mosque to offer afternoon prayers.
While performing his ablution, Azeem was said to have taken a drink of water, and when he was confronted by a cleric who asked why he wasn’t fasting, the pair started exchanging words which led to a fight.

Azeem’s crew members stepped in to save him, but after prayers when they tried to do some recording inside the mosque, the clerics and some students were said to have grabbed their equipments, trashing one of their cameras in the process.

Other journalists were also banned from recording the confrontation. The clerics also reportedly took pictures of the news crew vans, while throwing stones at them.

Azeem was sent to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, where a medical examination was ordered on his behalf.
