The National Universities Commission (NUC), has warned that not all tertiary institutions are worth enrolling children and wards.
NUC warned parents, guardians and students to be aware of the universities that have not been accredited.
The body listed 35 universities that are dwindling students and awarding illegal degrees.

According to Daily Post, the NUC warned that the universities were not approved and their certificates are as a result declared fake.

In a similar vein, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai has said that Nigerian Army University Biu in Borno state would take off next September.
Buratai made the disclosure shortly after receiving the Certificate of Occupancy and the surveyed site master plan for the university site from Governor Kashim Shettima in Maiduguri on Monday, June 5.
He said the Army has already reached out to the National Universities Commission (NUC) to secure approval for the university, reports by News Agency of Nigerian (NAN).
The chief of army staff disclosed that army engineers had also commenced construction work at the site and thanked the Borno Government for the allocation of the land.
He said that funding for the university project was captured in the 2017 budget and commended the federal government for its commitment to the take off of the institution.
The Army chief said that the university was being designed as a unique and specialized institution that would serve as solutions center especially to specific challenges facing the Army and North East.
Responding, Shettima assured that the state government would provide necessary support towards take off of the institution.
