Editor’s note: Since President Muhammadu Buhari left for UK to seek medical care, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has been in acting capacity paddling the affairs of the country. But there are notions that some cabals are trying hard to undermine his power as acting president. On Monday June 12, Professor Yemi Osinbajo signed the much awaited 2017 appropriating budget.
In a message sent to ZENITHBLOG.com, a Facebook user, Omololu Omotosho, writes about the Budget and why it was not necessary for the presidency to announce President Buhari’s statement backing Osinbajo to sign the Budget.
Why did Acting President Yemi Osinbajo need permission from President Muhammadu Buhari in order to sign the 2017 budget? Obviously, Osinbajo has the power to assent to the budget constitutionally.
The statement released by the Presidency saying, “President Buhari backs Acting President to sign 2017 Budget Bill” is a desperate attempt by President Muhammadu Buhari to remain relevant when he is supposed to be focused on getting the medical care he needs and deserves.
