– A Nigerian Army officer has allegedly suffered a case of mistaken identity
– The officer was alleged to have brutalised a civilian in an hotel in Aba
– Sources however say the officer accused of the brutality was not involved in the affray
Like the recent case in Nigeria’s neigbouring country, Ghana, where an Army officer was lynched after a false alarm was raised, a Nigerian Army Officer, Olusegun Ijimakinwa has also allegedly suffered a case of mistaken identity.

Lieutenant Ijimakinwa was said to have been wrongfully identified as the officer that beat up a civilian in an hotel in Aba, Abia state.
Michael, who posted the incident on Facebook said: “My dear friends, the name of this Army man is Ijimakinwa olusegun, his base is in ABA. The other pictures that are displayed below is a civilian and a businessman, and his name is Lawson. He was beaten brutally by this Army man and his boys,in a Nite Club at ABA over the weekend”
Sources tell ZENITHBLOG.com that Ijimakinwa who was at the hotel during the fight was not in anyway involved in the affray.
The source who asked not to be mentioned said the fight had already been settled by a lieutenant identified as A.O Amusa before Ijimakinwa came on the scene.
He also said that because they could not identify the officers involved and Lt Ijamakinwa was the officer they could identify, Lawson and his friend Joseph Michael went on Facebook and erroneously downloaded the picture of Lt Ijamakinwa and his wife.
Going further, the source further disclosed that the scuffle started after the civilian assaulted an army officer in a civilian clothe (not Ijimakinwa).
The civilian identified as Lawson was said to have ‘pushed the army officer’ out of his way and this eventually degenerated into an argument which resulted in the affray.
The source added that it was a normal public brawl which was only sensationalised when it was discovered that an army officer was involved.

However, when ZENITHBLOG.com contacted Luxury City Hotel, Aba, the scene of the fight, the manager of the hotel said she was not on ground on the said day and as such could not comment.
But on the other hand, the Commander of 14 Brigade Ohafia in Abia state had swiftly set up an inquiry to investigate the incident for appropriate action.
ZENITHBLOG.com however welcomes eye witnesses to share their account of the incident.
ZENITHBLOG.com had earlier reported that an officer identified as, Ijimakinwa Olusegun, allegedly beat up a businessman simply identified as Lawson because he mistakenly hit him at a crowded club.
According to Facebook user Joseph Michael the military man and his friends beat up Lawson at a night club in Aba.
Michael claimed that the businessman was brutalized because he mistakenly touched the officer.
Here are some comments that questioned accuracy of the incident.
Meanwhile, ZENITHBLOG.com TV went to the street to ask Nigerians what they think about the Nigerian Police Force.
