Nigerian Newspapers on Wednesday, June 21, have focused on the qut notice issued to Igbos residing in the Northern part of Nigeria amongst other top stories.
The Guardian reports that perturbed by the October 1 quit order, an Igbo group, Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) has appealed to the United Nations (UN) for protection for the easterners residing in the northern part of the country.

In a petition to the world body, the youths also called for a commencement of steps towards a referendum in Igbo land as the way to a peaceful separation of the people from the rest of Nigeria.
The petition entitled “A call for emergency in Nigeria –Our two-point demand”, they said, was in response to the letter to acting President Yemi Osinbajo by the Arewa youths, in which they insisted on the October 1 deadline for the Igbo to vacate the northern region.

Vanguard reports that Igbo living in the 19 Northern states vowed yesterday not to leave the North on the October 1 deadline given by some Northern groups.
President-General of Igbo traditional rulers in the northern states and Abuja, Chief Chikezie Nwogwu, stated this during a courtesy call on Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, who insisted on having the northern youths that gave the ultimatum arrested and prosecuted.

He said his total commitment to the war against corruption informed his decision to authorise the filing of an appeal against the judgment of the Code of Conduct Tribunal which acquitted the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, of all 18 charges of false asset declaration preferred against the former Kwara State Governor.
