JUST IN: Watch how 82 doctors, 26 lawyers, 92 other graduates got drilled into the Nigerian Army (photos, video)

– The Nigerian Army said the number of professionals enlisting into the organisation in unprecedented in the history of the country

– The newly enlisted, according to SK Usman, comprises priests, pastors and Islamic clerics

The Nigerian Army on Saturday, June 3 graduated a total of 200 officers who participated in its 2017 Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC).

They were enlisted after a colourful ceremony that included a drill and following their successful completion of a professional training at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Jaji, in Kaduna, Kaduna state.

ZENITHBLOG.com reports that 82 of the newly enlisted are medical doctors with eight as consultants in various fields of medicine while 26 are lawyers.

A statement by the director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier-General Sani Usman, said 21 of the enlisted are Public Relations specialists while 18 others were trained on Army aviation and engineering.

Also, 19 of the newly enlisted are protestant chaplains, 21 are of the Catholic faith, and three others are specialtists in Islamic affairs.

“Passing out parade/commissioning and oath taking ceremony of 200 Officer Cadets of Direct Short Service Commission 23/2016 at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Jaji, Kaduna which is presided by the reviewing officer and special guest of honour, Mansur Muhammad Dan-Ali, honourable minister of Defence.

“The cadets comprised of 82 Medical Doctors out of which 8 are consultants in various fields of Medicine, 26 Lawyers, 21 Public Relations specialists, 18 with specialty to Army Aviation and Engineering, 19 Protestant Chaplaincy, 21 Catholic, 23 Islamic Affairs specialists.

“It is unprecedented in the history of the Nigerian Army and great boast to the strength of the Officer Corps of the Nigerian Army by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TY Buratai,” the statement said.

ZENITHBLOG.com had earlier reported that the chief of training and operation of the Army headquarters, David Ahmadu, has reportedly warned soldiers against adopting desperate measures just to beat the current economic crisis in the country.

The report said that Ahmadu gave the warning at the graduation regimental dinner for direct short service course 23 of Nigeria Army School of infantry Jaji in Kaduna state. According to the report, Ahmadu noted that the economic crisis was only temporary and would soon be surmounted by the government.
