Four dare-devil kidnappers who have reportedly caused a lot of havoc on communities in Rivers state have met their waterloo in the hands of troops of Operation DELTA SAFE (OPDS).
The troops reportedly ambushed the gang of sea robbers along KM-45 AWOBA waterways in Rivers state killing the four robbers who had also engaged in kidnapping.
A statement by Major Abubakar Abullahi, the coordinator of the Joint Media Campaign Centre and obtained by ZENITHBLOG.com, listed the items recovered to include: 2× AK-47 rifles, quantity 3× AK-47 magazines, quantity 22 ammunitions and one speed boat mounted with one 200 Horse-Power engine.

Similarly, troops on patrol along Bayelsa waterways acted on information and raided a sea pirates’ hideout along FORUPA-LOBIA waterways.

However, immediately the sea pirates sighted the troops advancing, they reportedly fled the hideout and left behind 3× fiber boats and one 75 Horse-Power engine.
The hideout was subsequently destroyed instantly while the troops continue with their patrols.
“In view of this, the commander of the Operation DELTA SAFE, Rear Admiral Apochi Suleiman, wishes to commend law-abiding citizens for their support by providing timely and useful information to troops.
“He appealed for more cooperation from inhabitants of joint operation area.

“He assured the communities, oil companies and other stakeholders of OPDS resolve to protect oil and gas infrastructure, prevent and deter crude oil theft, sea robbery, pipeline vandalism and other form of criminalities in the region that could impact negatively on the economy of the nation,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian military has been able to sustain its victory over insurgency due to its highest level of transparency and intelligence, a report by the Global Amnesty Watch (GAW) has shown.
GAW, a non-governmental organization that monitors the conduct of military, defence and security forces in combating crimes globally made this known at the presentation on Tuesday, May 30 in Abuja.
The presentation which was titled: The Mid Term Report on Nigeria’s Counter-Insurgency War was an independent assessment by GAW of the Nigerian military war against terrorism.
