INEC fixes July 8 to look for late Senator Adeleke's replacement

– The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled Saturday, July 8, for the by-election to fill Senator Isiaka Adeleke’s seat

– Adeleke represented the Osun West Senatorial District in the upper chamber

– Senator Adeleke who was the first Civilian Governor of Osun state, died on Sunday April 23

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled Saturday, July 8, for the by-election to replace Senator Isiaka Adeleke.

The late Adeleke who was a three-term senator elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015, represented the Osun West Senatorial District.

ZENITHBLOG.com gathered that this was contained in a notice dated Monday, June 5 and signed by Ademusire E.A the administrative secretary of Osun state INEC.

INEC fixes July 8 for by-election to replace Adeleke

Late Isiaka Adeleke who was a three-term senator, represented the Osun West Senatorial District.

The notice read: ” Consequent upon the provisions of the enabling statutes that bye-elections to fill the declared vacant seat by the National Assembly be conducted within 30 days upon the declaration, take notice that by the directives of the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, Bye Election for Osun West Senatorial seat will hold on Saturday 8th July 2017.”

Wale Alakinde, a former governorship aspirant on the platform of Labour Party, has announced that he was interested in the race to pick the PDP’s ticket.

Alakinde, while speaking at a press conference said he was being pushed forward by the Ede community where Adeleke hailed from to continue the struggle to liberate the people from where Adeleke stopped.

While hailing Adeleke’s performance and his leadership style, Alakinde said he would also help his constituents aside his performing his legislative duties effectively.

According to an earlier report by ZENITHBLOG.com, Senator Adeleke who was the first Civilian Governor of Osun state, died on Sunday April 23.

He was buried on Monday, April 24, in his country home, Ede, Osun state according to Muslim rites.

After about three weeks of investigations the coroner, Mr. Olusegun Ayilara, ruled out poison as the cause of Adeleke’s death, saying no traces of it were found in the deceased’s system according to the autopsy and toxicologist reports.
