The inspector general of police Ibrahim Idris has warned all police officers in Nigeria especially those in Calabar, Cross River state against retaliating the attack on the Akin police station by some naval personnel.
Idris issued the stern warning to all police officers on Friday, June 2.
ZENITHBLOG.com had earlier reported that three police officers were burnt to death in a clash between the police and some naval ratings in Calabar.

The incident which occurred at the Akim Divisional Police headquarters on Tuesday, May 30, witnesses said lasted for over two hours after a police officer shot a naval rating in the shoulder over arguments on traffic infraction.
But while inspecting the burnt facilities at the police station said an independent panel of inquiry would be established to investigate the matter.

The IGP who was represented by the deputy inspector general of police in charge of training and capacity development Emmanuel Inyang condemned the level of damage caused over a minor argument.
Inyang alongside an assistant inspector general of police Abubakar Marafa and the commander of Nigeria Navy Ship Victory Salihu Jibril and the Cross River commissioner of police Hafiz Inuwas also visited two injured police officer and the naval rating in the hospital.

Inyang also called on the officers to desist from taking laws into their hand.
He said the police must continue to maintain its existing cordial relationship with the Nigeria armed forces and other security agencies.
