The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, on Thursday directed banks and authorized forex dealers to sell the Pilgrims Travelling Allowance, PTA, to intending pilgrims at a concessionary exchange rate of N197 to $1. Soon after the directive was issued, Nigerians started complaining.
What is the crux of the matter? People are wondering why Business men and woman can’t get Dollar at a cheaper rate to do their business, which enable them to create jobs for jobless Nigerians. But in the case of religion, which should be a personal obligation, CBN was quick to intervene.
Even the chairman of National Human Rights Commission, Ben Angwe, is not happy. See reactions:
